8/1/2018 Editor Michael Strothoff Reading time: 2 Minutes
We all know it, we all wear it. Some in black cotton, others with a little less fabric and some lace. Yes, we’re talking about our daily companion – underwear. In honour of their own day on 5th August, here are a few facts about lingerie, boxers & co. from our online business.

Too hot for underwear

Swimming pool, lake or beach holiday – particularly in the current heatwave, Germans are spending a lot of time outdoors. Who’s even thinking about underwear yet? It will all be different when the days get shorter again. In the winter months, there are twice as many searches for sexy lingerie as in the summer.

We’re really keen on these colours

All kinds of colours in the underwear drawer? No way. Germans favour simple black and white when choosing colours to wear downstairs. For German women these are even the joint most popular colours. Soft nude and berry tones come second. Men like marine, red and grey.

Let the clothes fall: the TOP 3 types of briefs

“Less is more” – when it comes to underwear preferences in Germany, this common saying simply doesn’t hold true. Men prefer boxer shorts with a comfortable cut. In second and third place are slim-fitting hipster shorts and boxers with a longer leg. Women most prefer to wear slips or hipster briefs. The current trend: the slightly wider Brazilian-cut thong has relegated the classic string thong to second place.

Add to basket – the TOP 5 bra styles

Unwired, without straps or with a front clasp – there are a lot of varieties of bras. The classic cupped and wired bras are topping the wishlists of our female customers. Minimisers, a.k.a. bras that make the bust appear smaller, and comfy unwired designs have also made it into the Top 5. The push-up bra takes fifth place.
